There's a rather sudden change of plans if you were planning on attending QuakeCon in Dallas this August. With id Software's annual gaming base less than two months away, the company has announced a venue change from the Hilton Anatole in Dallas to the Gaylord Texan located north of Dallas. The dates of the event remain the same, though: August 13 to 16.

The Gaylord Texan was the home to QuakeCon in 2004 and 2005, but the Hilton Anatole has served as home to the event in recent years. QuakeCon is free to attend, however if you've already made a reservation at the Hilton Anatole it has been automatically cancelled, and you must make a new reservation at the Gaylord Texan at an equal or lesser rate.

According to the announcement, the Gaylord Texan offers a bigger venue that will support a larger BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party, as well as more exhibitor and entertainment space.
