I think to be honest i play more games on my phone than my DS purely because i always have my phone with me. before when i had an n-gage it had sum great games, and not just n-gage ones, sum small java games were good and the emulators for symbian OS were great. now i have n91 and theres no emulators yets cos of the stupid upgraded not backwards compatible OS but i have plenty of good looking java games to waste time with, plus n91 has the best music capabilities for a phone, so i dont need any other gadgets now
its a long way off, but eventually mobile games will replace the handheld systems, esspecially with the quality of gamelofts current games and people like squareenix taking a serious interest in it, plus n-gages revival on the n-series phones. its just a matter of time before the phones are as good as the handhelds

It's just like everyone has been saying.

People want small phones and big screen handhelds, where currently the two are not possible on the same device.

However, once PLEDs* take over from LCD and foldable screens become possible, things might get a little more convergent....

*Plastic LEDs - check out the link below, they've currently got a process where they inkjet the PLEDS as ink straight onto the plastic screen

I'd prefer a device with a focus on gaming. If it can do other things, great. So I think it will be pretty hard to beat the PSP. Sure the PSP is somewhat large compared to a lot of mobile phones, but its size works. And it is not bulky or ugly.

why would the mobile have to be same size as a Psp ? My old N6630 played Sms emus with better sound than some on the psp, and the cbm64 was just as good, granted the keys are close together but the mobs are still able to emulate..

I dun think that merging a handphone and a gaming console would be a good idea... Think about it like squashing loads of stuff into a small little box and a wrong move and....poof...everything pops out, the phone may explode...if my memory serves me correctly i read an article about a mobile phone exploding.

When ppl play games it's gonna have to be comfortable...no 1's gonna play a game if it's a challenge itself to press the keys.

When i go for a gaming console, i wanna be sure that it makes my gaming experience mroe enjoyable.

i think what we are going to see in the next few years is that every gadget will be powerfull enough to do everything (make calls, take pictures, watch movies, play games), and you only will have to choose the size of it (in terms of screen basically)

it doesn't matter if you call it a phone, a pda, a console, the truth is that it will play everything and well

there will be tiny ones, for the people that don't care about visuals, and bigger ones for those wanting to play or watch telly on the go, but everything will be the same, basically a PC on the pocket.

i think what we are going to see disappear is phone-and-only-phone gadgets, what i don't know is how long it's going to take

And the answer to the news title is.....drumroll.....

No....just look at how it went with the N-gage...

Sure, having e-mail and mp3 and a couple of short movie clips on a phone is neat, but god forbid the day you have to get your fix of FPS games on a frikkin small as F screen like that.....All my friends would probably go cross eyed.

    @MaxSMoke
You are absolutely right, It's nothing to add =) The right place for your post is in the head of the threed!
...but I still think, that in future wireless headset (eg bluetooth) for console/communicators can become an ideal compromice for mobile gamers! They may also replace some phones, if it will have integrated GSM (other NET) module!
