Default I'm thinking of getting a Wii

Aside from the new Super Mario Bros game and Super Smash Bros Brawl what else do you guys recommend?

I'm up for anything as long as it doesn't require me to buy too much useless plastic peripheral junk.

From my own experience, essential games are:

    Super Mario Galaxy
    Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition
    Zelda - Twighlight Princess
    Metroid Prime Trilogy
Mario Kart Wii - you can use the Gamecube controller for best times so do not need the wheel.

Also worth a look if you see them cheap:
    Animal Crossing
    Okami
    Tomb Raider Anniversary
Wii Play (v good pool game included)

    Avoid buying:
    Bust-A-Move Wii

Super Paper Mario is supposed to be good but I have never tried it.

Also, if you never had a Game Cube it is worth picking up some GC games for v little money, e.g. Super Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil, Prince Of Persia, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, etc

everything he said, paper mario is excellent, guitar hero is a staple of any newer console.

trying (and failing) to find any mgs games for gc or wii...
