These are all audio formats. APE i know for sure is lossless, Flac I believe is or is close, and the others are still really good quality. AAC for instance is what the iPod uses.
no source? i want to know more....

FLAC is agreat thing but it takes so much more space than an mp3... even with a 1gig memstick, 2 albums would be the max.
