When Sony passes new products through the Federal Communications Commission it uses the pseudonym "Sand Dollar Enterprise, Inc" kind of like Elvis Presley using the alias "John Burrows". While Presley's giveaway were the sideburns, Sony's is "PlayStation 3".
Sand Dollar Enterprise is located at 919 East Hillsdale Boulevard, Foster City, CA 94404. Hey, that's where Sony Computer Entertainment of America is based. What a kwinky-dink!
The filing is for two PS3 "slim" consoles CECH-2101A and CECH-2102B (the current hardware code is CECH-2001A and B). The "A" and the "B" likely refer to different hard drive size.
The filling does not turn up any major changes (there's Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi), and the machines appear to be already what is on the market. According to website PS3 News, it is being assumed that Sony has found a new manufacturer for some of its wireless components, which could explain why these are being pushed through the FCC.

So the filings might be "new", but that doesn't mean these consoles are new.
