    If the "receive data" or "print" message is frozen on the Brother machines LCD, follow these steps:
    Press and hold the on/off key to turn off the machine, if the machine does not turn off when you press and hold the on/off key, unplug the machine from the electrical outlet.

    In addition to your post, I want to say that it's necessary to check your cartridge in this case because I had a problem when the print message was "frozen" and I checked my cartridge, and it was broken a little bit. I was forced to change it, I was googling for 3 hours and finally, according to reviews, I ordered a suitable variant from this place: https://www.mrdepot.ca/collections/hp-toner-cartridges. Please be careful when you will decide to change your cartridge, because if it won't be suitable to your printer by size, it's going to be a big disappointment.
