Joint Task Force is Vivendi's latest RTS contender and, promising a modern warfare setting which pits your advanced military tech versus conventional forces, it's set its sights high - apparently, it'll set a new "benchmark for modern-day RTS games".

We guess, as ever, the proof will be in the pudding, but with Mithis Games - which was responsible for the much underrated Nexus: The Jupiter Incident and currently working on BattleStations Midway for Eidos - at the development helm, it should prove promising fare for armchair generals looking for a fresh modern combat challenge.

New screens have emerged from the JTF bunker this morning, which we thought we'd share with you since we're nice like that, and it seems the game's shaping up fairly well with a game engine which promises plenty of detail and some rather attractive explosive action.

Preview code has also recently been dispatched our way so we hope to bring you a more detailed playtest shortly, but in the meantime enjoy the screens and prepare to hit the beaches when JTF debuts this very autumn. If you'd like to see the game in action, slide eyes right for more screens and especially those in-game movies.
