Ahead of its release in Europe tomorrow, EA has told MCV that Medal of Honor is on track to shatter all previous sales records for the cult FPS war series.
The publisher is, in particular, anxious for gamers to get to grips with the multiplayer side of the game, which has been crafted by Swedish developer Battlefield series creator DICE.
“Overall, we’re set for the strongest launch in the history of the Medal of Honor brand,” EA UK’s marketing director Stuart Lang told MCV.
“Pre orders already outstrip week one sales for any Medal of Honor game. So we know that this Medal of Honor will eclipse every title in the series to date – including the award-winning Frontline and Allied Assault.
“We’ve received a stack of great reviews and awards from many media outlets across the globe who highly rate the game. This praise sits alongside an unmissable communications drive which will engage with all shooter fans and hit-buying gamers. If you take a look at any retailer charts you’ll see Medal of Honor is riding high. We’re confident we have a hit on our hands. If you’re an FPS fan you need to experience Medal of Honor in 2010.”

A mainstream TV advertising campaign kicked off for the game on October 9th and will run through to Christmas. This is accompanied by outdoor, online, cinema and print campaigns.
The game also received scores of 85 per cent from both CVG and GamesMaster.
“We anticipate Medal of Honor to be one of the biggest video game titles launched this year,” GameStop’s senior VP of merchandising Bob McKenzie added. “This underscores how video gaming has emerged as mainstream entertainment.”
