Capcom's freemium hit has been downloaded more than 15 million times for iOS, and as such it's little surprise that subsidiary Beeline Interactive will kick off its expansion to Android with the release ofSmurfs Village.
The game has been the source of some controversy in the United States, with the Federal Trade Commission launching an investigation following complaints that children were running up enormous credit card bills buying virtual items.
In Smurfs Village, players can buy items worth up to $99. Apple would later tweak its in-app purchasing system to require a password when a purchase was first attempted. The game was a driving factor in Capcom Mobile's profits rising 360 per cent earlier this year.
