3DS recorded its best ever sales week in Japan to top the Japanese hardware chart during the week ended December 18, although it had a five day head start over the just launched PS Vita.
Weekly sales of Nintendo's portable came in at 367,691 units, while Vita shifted 324,859 units in its first two days of availability, Andriasang reports.On the software front, Final Fantasy XIII-2 debuted at No.1, with the PS3 version of the game selling 525,271. The Xbox 360 edition failed to make the top 20.
Last week's top-seller, Monster Hunter 3G, dropped to No.2, ahead of Mario Kart 7, Inazuma Eleven Go and Super Mario 3D Land.
The highest Vita entries were Hot Shots Golf 6 and Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which came in at No.7 and No.8 respectively.
