Capcom USA has as good as given its public backing to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
While stopping short of expressing formal support of the controversial bill, the publisher said in a statement to Digital Trends: "The ESA represents us on these matters."
The Entertainment Software Association, which represents Capcom and 33 other US game companies, yesterday confirmed its support for SOPA, which opponents say threatens free speech on the internet and allows for websites to be wrongly shut down without warning.
