In our eyes we hate Sony (Well I do anyway) in the eyes of non-homebrewers they think Sony are great for updating the PSP all the time if you get me.

Why wouldn't Sony force GTA VCS to be programmed to use only a specific firmware, 2.82 for example, that is then released at exactly the same time as GTA? Is Sony that clever?
