67 per cent for iPhone and 33 per cent for iPad.
A new report by European advertising network madvertise and app guide AppZapp said 255,922 apps launched on the UK App Store in 2011 – that's around 21,326 apps per month, spiking in December to reach 28,992 apps, ahead of Christmas.
iPhone secured two-thirds of apps, with lifestyle, education and games sectors experiencing respective growth rates of 106 per cent, 99 per cent and 94 per cent.
Meanwhile, the third of apps that were developed for iPad were dominated by educational ones, experiencing a growth rate of 205 per cent.
Books proved to be the least popular app market across both platforms, but Apple will look to change that with its iBooks initiative, which sold 350,000 textbooks, in three days.
