156m iOS devices sold in 2011, compared to 122m Macs in 28 years.
We know Apple experienced a great fourth quarter last year, with its highest sales to date. Now, the firm's place in the market appears to be so strong that it's leaving its own products behind to eat dust.
In an interview with Fortune, Apple CEO Tim Cook unleashed a stack of stats to show the firm has sold 55 million iPads to date, along with 175 million iPhones and iPod Touch devices has pushed total iOS sales to 316 million in total.
Meanwhile, Macs which have been on the market for almost three decades have only sold 122 million devices in total. That means iOS devices have outpaced Mac sales in almost a tenth of the time.
Of course, this is a winning situation for Apple to be in, especially as Macs experienced the best ever sales in Q4 2011, selling almost five million units.
The iPad 3 is rumoured to be released next month, which is only likely to add even more millions to iOS sales.
