News from Lik Sang [br][br] Gametech of Japan, infamous for a few cool products such as the TV de Advance (connect your GBA to a TV), GBA Time Machine, and the Neo Fami consoles, are pleasing us with their latest exciting creation for Famicom lovers: the Pocket Famicom.[br][br]Some of you might remember the unofficial Game Axe or the Game Theory Admiral (GTA) that appeared on the market not so long ago. While the Game Axe is actually not manufactured by pirates, the second one for sure is. It looks like a GBA, and sells along strange looking GBA shaped NES cartridges in the shops of China. The quality of it makes you regret your purchase just after opening the box.[br][br]Not anymore. Finally 8 bit lovers can take their games out with the good looking and high quality Pocket Famicom from Gametech Japan. The Red/White Edition (the Famicom is called "Red/White Machine" over here near the land of the rising sun) is now in stock and shipping within 24h. Also back in stock and shipping within 24h is the GBA Time Machine, which lets you play all your Famicom cartridges on a GBA SP.[br][br]We have taken a closer look at the unit over the weekend and compared it to some of the classic consoles, and to the latest handhelds by Nintendo and Sony. We are actually quite impressed by the unit, and quite impressed once more by the advantages of working at Lik Sang the console collector ;-)[br][br]The Pocket Famicom aka PocketFami is a nicely done handheld that showed up on the market just a couple of days ago. Gametech impresses with the small details that you might not expect on a 8 bit famiclone at all, such as small rubber covers that protect your controller ports to get dirty. The Pocket Famicom comes with headphone ports, an AV port and the cable to connect it to your TV, and has two optional controller ports for two joypads compatible with the Neo Fami. Batteries (3 AA) and AC adapter are not included. The AC adapter will not be of use anyway if you plan to take your system out (the Pocket Famicom probably doesn't not have a recharge circuit).
