Exec claims the tablet market is still wide open.
Dell's attempt to tackle the tablet market with its Android-powered Streak range resulted in poor sales and the discontinuation of the devices.
Now, the firm assures Reuters it can bounce back and battle the iPad with a new line of Windows tablets, as Dell's chief commercial officer Steve Felice claims the tablet market is still wide open.
However, "wide open" seems to be an overstatement as Apple sold 15.4 million iPads in Q4, almost four times the number of nearest rival Amazon's Kindle Fire, which bagged four million.
During the interview, Felice, says: "We're very encouraged by the touch capability we are seeing in the beta versions of Windows 8. We have a roadmap for tablets that we haven't announced yet. You'll see some announcements for the back half of the year."
The exec assures that Android isn't out of the question, while "the back half of the year" could be an attempt to capitalise on the usual sales spike ahead of Christmas.
