Report claims the giant plans to sell its own products directly to consumers.
Google is set to launch an online tablet store, which would give it direct access to consumers, according to WSJ.
The firm will reportedly sell Samsung and Asus tablets, the latter of which was recently reported to become Google's next flagship tablet provider, following the path of Samsung, HTC and Motorola.
Google sold its Nexus One phone – or at least tried to – directly to consumers in 2010, but the store was written off as a failure after less than half a year.
Presumably, Google is planning the move in an attempt to up the ante against the frontrunner Apple, which has seen massive sales of its iPad. An example of this was the new iPad selling three million in three days.
Android is due to take over from iPad in terms of tablet shipments in the next few years as consumers move away from premium devices and it seems Google is planning to speed up the power exchange.
