That's triple what it's worth today.
A survey released by digital goods researching group SuperData reckons the current smartphone-inspired boom in gaming is set to accelerate.
It says the market will triple in value, with Asia projected to hit $3.2 billion by 2015 - for 40 per cent of the market.
Breaking down the earnings, it says freemium will account for 55 per cent, and ads for five per cent. It claims between 35 per cent and ten per cent of freemium players end up paying something to play.
Most games spend between $8 and $15 per month.
“The mobile gaming market is key to building a successful strategy,” Janelle Benjamin, SuperData’s VP of Research. “Only by capitalising on the early momentum can game companies establish a sustainable footprint for the long term.”
