Valve has dashed any hopes of a Half-Life 3 reveal at E3 by confirming that its has "no plans to make any product announcements" at this year's event.
The confirmation came from Valve vice president of marketing Doug Lombardi, responding to Joystiq's enquiry regarding an email exchange between Gabe Newell and a player reported by fansite ValveTime.
Replying to the player's offer to attach a valve to his eyeball shouldHL3 be revealed, Newell stressed that the developer would only be showing previously announced games.
“We are not announcing anything at E3. Really,” he said. “We are not announcing Half-Life 3 or Portal 3 or Left 4 Dead 3. We are going to be showing stuff everyone already knows about ([Counterstrike: Global Offensive], Dota 2, [Steam Big Picture Mode UI])”.
Lombardi and Newell''s comments also rule out any early showing of the "wearable computer" Valve revealed it was working on last month in a job listing.
While there was never any reason to believe that Valve would showHL3 - or any other unannounced title, for that matter - at E3, the developer's confirmation means yet another big hitter will not be making any big announcements this year, with Microsoft and Sonyalready having played down the chances of new hardware at the June conference.
