Networking hub to connect Android game players in one location.
Apple's 'Game Centre' is a native app that connects players across a number of iOS games, recording scores into leaderboards and achievements. Now, Business Insider reckons Google plans to copy Apple and launch a version for Android.
An industry source, said: "They are starting to really understand all of the needs and wants to make a game really successful. As recently as even a year ago, that really wasn't part of their institutional DNA, But I think they're getting there."
The Google software is set to include 'social achievements', offering similar awards and points like the Apple Game Centre inspiration.
Mobile gaming and apps are of key importance to most smartphone users, and most new releases are compatible across iOS and Android.
Seemingly, Google plans to up the ante against its Apple rival by positioning itself as a more gamified platform. This, of course, was one of the reasons that the firm renamed the Android Market app store as Google Play earlier this year.
