Default Unpatched Firmware for DS Lite

Is it possible to find the latest genuine firmware (unpatched) for DS Lite?

I did some googling but nothing came up except FlashMe...

    Waiting for your answers
    Thanks

Because unlike sony, they got it right the first time and didnt rely on updates to fix their own mistakes

    firmware upgrade != fixing bugs
firmware upgrade = fixing bugs + new features + optimizations

as far as I know there is 7 different firmware version
so how come they got it right the first time ?

As far as i know the only things changed in new firmwares is:
    1. Greater copy protection against booting with those old PassMe devices
    2. To enable the DS Lite to adjust the screen to its 4 different brightness settings.

TBH, new firmwares for the DS are a bad thing -- it just means that less types of Flash cards are going to work with you DS. So be greatful if your firmware is not that up to date! it's a good thing

Right, Nintendo doesn't offer firmware versions for download, and there are no real feature upgrades with each one. Technically there is a way to update your firmware through some FlashMe trickery, but it's not necessary really.

There really isn't all that much space for the firmware anyway, so even if Nintendo added new features with new firmwares, the features would have to be REALLY small in size for it all to fit.

This would be a nice reason WHY to upgrade:

I would like those brightness settings on my FW V3 ds

Nintendo does not release firmware upgrades nor releases them. That brightness setting is through a hack known as FlashMe. This is not released or authorized by Nintendo.

You can also change the settings with a Slot-1 device such as R4DS, M3 Simply or similar products. Not to mention, it does not require any flashing to the DS.

That only works with DS systems whose original firmwares are v5 or higher, and you can't simply use a trick to upgrade the DS to v5 and then install FlashMe, as that won't work. v5 DS systems actually have different hardware bits that make the brightness controls possible with FlashMe, so it's likely that Nintendo created a new firmware version just to differentiate the ones with this new hardware from the older versions. While performance is the same, the internal parts are different, most likely made in preparation of the arriving DS Lites so that they didn't have to worry about two completely different types of hardware.

I too wish for brightness controls on my Phat, but alas, I only have v4.
