Test apps to receive individual windows, camera access and in-app payments.
RIM announced the 'Android Runtime for BlackBerry' in Q1, a porting platform for Google OS developers that will allow apps to convert from Android to the PlayBook.
Now, the firm has updated the testing kit, enabling developers to run an app in individual windows to determine how the creation runs in comparison to other runtime apps.
Developers creating photo-based apps will also be able to access the camera technology on the device, while in-app payments are available for users to include virtual items and upgrades as a means of monetising their designs.
In particular, RIM highlights device encryption as a key feature, offering added security for the device and individual runtimes.
The Android BlackBerry partnership will likely provide PlayBook users with a new means of entertainment when it does eventually go live.
