The World Wide Web will see a massive upgraded, allowing trillions of internet addresses to exist.
Currently there is an estimated four billion web addresses online, but with this huge increase in volume, analysts are warning that this shift could make way for a large increase in malware and viruses.
Tom McDonough, president and chief operating officer at SourceFire commented in an interview that: “The number of threats has increased dramatically over the last couple of years, and I think we’re going to continue to see it. The threats are not going to stop.”
Cyber security firm SourceFire was founded by Martin Roesch, author of open source Snort, the world’s most widely developed intrusion detection and prevention technology.
