API will give developers ability to integrate their apps with Snapdragon processing features.
Qualcomm's processors are pretty ubiquitous across the smartphone and tablet space, powering more than 250 devices, including the Nokia Lumia and some BlackBerrys.
And at the top of the range is the Snapdragon family, with the best performance in terms of graphics power, signal access and more.
The chip giant has now launched its Snapdragon SDK in beta for Android, giving developers an API they can integrate into their apps for a tighter performance.
Features of the Snapdragon APIs include:
* facial processing, such as blink and smile detection
* burst capture, which leverages zero shutter lag to photograph a stream of images
* surround sound recording
* hardware echo cancellation
* sensor gestures to support new, differentiated user interface
* low power always on geofencing capabilities
* indoor location
