Teams with Extent to give customers more than 75 titles at launch.
Smartphone game users in Korea are set to rise from 10.2m in 2011 to 33.1m in 2015 – a CAGR of 34 per cent – according to researcher Nomura.
The data is likely just the type that encouraged Korean network, KT, to partner with on-demand games provider, Extent, for a new monthly subscription-based mobile games service.
KT's Android-based platform is the 'first of its kind' to hit the country, offering customers unlimited play of 75+ premium games, which are all ad-free.
The 'Olleh GameTanium' service will also include ratings, reviews, and game trailers, offering developers a chance of extra promotion.
Peter von Schlossberg, president of Exent, said: "With one of the highest smartphone penetration rates in the world and mobile game play among Koreans poised to continue its steep growth curve, we are excited to partner with KT to introduce GameTanium in one of the most connected cultures in the world."
