Last year a rumour surfaced that Facebook was working on a mobile phone with HTC, and those whispers haven't gone away.
New rumours have surfaced that seem to give weight to the idea that the Taiwanese manufacturer is working with the social media giant.
According to a reporter at Bloomberg, the device – codenamed Buffy – will be released mid 2013. It's expected that the phone will run on Android and that Facebook has recruited a team of former Apple engineers to build it.
Shortly after these new rumours broke, a Facebook spokesperson told The Next Web: "Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world."
If this story turns out to be true, then it could positively change the fortunes of HTC, who are losing users to rival Android manufacturers such as Samsung.
