The Vita is having an uphill battle for third party support

Sony
Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has admitted that Sony is having a tough time getting third-party developers to support the PlayStation Vita. The system has had a rough start worldwide, with Nintendo's 3DS providing strong competition following a price drop.

"We're having a more difficult time than we had anticipated in terms of getting support from third-party publishers, but that's our job," Yoshida told PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

"We will continue to talk to development communities and publishing partners and tell them why Vita can provide a great experience for the IPs they have and I hope the Assassin's Creed game will prove that."

Sony has declined to drop the price of the PlayStation Vita, instead hoping that titles like Assassin's Creed III: Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified pull consumers in this holiday season.
