Edge – the world’s most respected multi-format videogame brand – has secured CCP Games as sponsor of its free-to-play week on Edge-Online.

From this week, CCP Games will take over the whole site for seven days in the build-up to the F2P Summit which is due to take place in London on Wednesday 26 September.

For the entire week www.edge-online.com will investigate gaming’s fastest-growing business model, free-to-play gaming. From App Store success stories and the new breed of online PC games to the state of play on Facebook and the next generation of browser games, Edge-Online will lift the lid on how and why free-to-play gaming has shaken up the industry.

Richard Keith, Publisher of Edge, says: “There’s nothing more exciting right now in videogames than free-to-play. These dynamic models are changing the way games are made, marketed and played which is why Edge-Online has dedicated a whole week to explore what free-to-play means to the industry, and I’m delighted to have one of the leading players in the free-to-play market, CCP onboard.”

David Reid, Chief Marketing Officer of CCP Games, says: “CCP Games is proud to sponsor Edge-Online’s free-to-play week. As developers of DUST 514, the PlayStation 3 exclusive free-to-play shooter, we recognize how quickly this new business model is growing in the Western world. It’s important that the industry address this growing trend.”
