Nintendo has published hardware sales comparison graphs for the European, US and Japanese markets during the first nine months of 2012.
3DS comfortably outsold Vita in all three regions during the first three calendar quarters, but things aren't so rosy for Nintendo on the home console front. In Europe PS3 sales consistently came in ahead of Xbox 360 sales, with Wii clearly in third place.
In Japan PS3 sales topped those of Wii, while Xbox 360 sales don't even feature on the graph given the lack of competition it provides the other consoles.
But in the US Xbox 360 outsold PS3 every month running, as PS3 did Wii.
This European sales data is estimated by Nintendo based on information provided by market research companies. NPD data was used for the US graph, and Media Create data for the Japanese one.
Nintendo has also published lists of the 20 top-selling games in Europe, the US and Japanduring the first nine months of 2012.
