Intel has outlined its plans for the next series of Core processors expected to arrive after April next year.
Speaking at the EntaLive event in Bristol yesterday, Intel promised a ‘huge leap in performance with these new architectures’.
The chip vendor also promised a 100 per cent improvement in graphics capabilities, as the next generation would feature graphics capabilities integrated in to the silicon.
Unfortunately for users of the current generation of Core processors, the updated architecture will mean a new motherboard socket – the LGA1150.
Meanwhile the Celeron family is de to be scaled down and utilised in the small scale laptop arena, and Intel said that it has ‘seen the writing on the wall’ with regards to netbooks and so the Atom processors will be repurposed for use with tablets and other mobile devices.
