Superstore chain Tesco is opening a record amount of branches at midnight for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Over 600 stores will be open at midnight on November 12th, with 150 stores extending their opening hours specially. This means Tesco will have the largest amount of stores open for the launch of this year’s most anticipated shooter.
Tesco’s flagship Cheshunt Extra store will be playing host to a monster truck kitted out with consoles so queuing gamers can play the game earlier and compete for Black Ops II merchandise.
Other Tesco stores will be joining in the celebrations by giving away goodies and providing food and drink for fans queuing in the cold.
“It’s been a big year for gaming releases and this is going to be a great climax,” said Tesco’s buying manager for entertainment games Nick Cooke.
“Thousands of gaming fans will be able to pick up Black Ops II the moment it’s released. We’re looking forward to a great atmosphere in stores up and down the country.”
The retailer has also confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops II is its most pre-ordered game of the year, beating EA’s FIFA 13.
