psp PSP 3xAAA Battery Mod Tutorial

Acidmods have posted a tutorial on how to make a battery mod for your PSP with AAA batteries

    Check it out Here

Personally i prefer the 2600mah battery (nearly 50% more powerful than the original Sony effort.

    Hrms...

    The psp's battery is a single cell li-ion, 3.6v.

3 rechargeable AAAs at 1.2 volts would work.

3 Non rechargeable would be 4.5, this wouldn't be enough to damage something in the psp I hope?
That image looks like a direct connection to the 3 AAAs in series, and the batteries are 1.5v non rechargeables.

The charger is 5v, it goes to a different port but i have no knowledge of how the innards are wired after that.

Seems to work for him so i guess its not a problem, at least in the short term.

I'm guessing you'd only get about 4 hours with this. Pretty neat as a fun mod but not effecient enough to take seriously.

I just use the STAMINA battery from SONY. Charges fast and lasts long.

Check the source post and you'll find out that new batteries will only last about an hour. He's also using AAA not AA.

I also wonder if the extra volts might shorten the life of the PSP, but perhaps the circuit board that reads and reports battery level is also trimming down the voltage to the appropriate level.

That battery mod look well good. I have rechageable AAA batteries that just takes 15 minutes to charge up. As they are 1000mah each putting them in a modified Sony battery should crank that up to 3000mah, that should result in nice long run times on the PSP.
