Map app gets worldwide rollout in the Apple App Store.
iPhone user the world over can now get their hands on the Google Maps app, after the popular service was rolled out worldwide in the Apple App Store.
Designed from the ground up, the app is built to combine the qualities of Google Maps with an interface that aims to make finding your destination easier than ever. The app shows more of the vector-based map on screen and provides both 2D and 3D views.
To complete the Google Maps ecosystem, we’re also releasing the Google Maps SDK for iOS, and a simple URL scheme to help developers use Google Maps when building their beautiful and innovative apps.
At the app’s core is Gogle’s constantly improving map of the world, which includes detailed information for more than 80 million businesses and points of interest. To get to your destination, users receive voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation, along with live traffic conditions and public transport information.
The new Google Maps app is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch (4th gen) iOS 5.1 and higher, in more than 40 countries and 29 languages, including Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
