Most people have a DVD player on the same TV - why would they want to play video through their Wii?

I could understand an image slideshow if your DVD player doesn't do this (most do, btw) and many allow you to pick your soundtrack.

The pain in the butt is that you have to transfer it all to an SD card on top of that - which is obnoxious (if you ask me).

The work people are doing to give the Wii some faux media center support is cool, but it's far from the mark. Until the Wii can either A) browse files on a network easily or B) gets an external HDD, it's all more work than it's worth.
