Unhappy computer help needed (how to remove spyware)

i think my computer recently got infected with spyware. Most likely because i downloaded a movie video add-on to watch a foreign format of video online. Right after the installation. Warnings that my computer had been infected with spyware came up.

Does anyone know how i can get rid of this spyware safely and freely. No buying software. Something that actually works?

    Thanks!

I hate spyware. As a system/network administrator I can tell you it can be a real nightmare to get rid of. Depending on what it is, you might not be able to fully remove it at all with free tools.

I have had mixed success with windows defender and avg antispyware, both of which are free.

I have had machines so bad that the only option is to reinstall them.

    good luck mate

Here are some programs that should help you.

    Spybot

    Ad-Aware

    Spyware Blaster

To get rid of some spyware you might need to go into safe mode.

I have't tried Spywer Blaster but Spybot and Ad-Aware work great!

Spyware Blaster is pretty good. It doesn't clean your system of spyware but it can help block a lot of it, it's like the immunization feature in Spybot.
