Games on Google+ will be retired in June as part of a switch to a new gaming platform.
Google has revealed details about a new cross-platform game service called Google Play which will give users the ability to sync gaming activity between devices and save game progress on Google’s servers. As a result of the new service, Google+ Games will be no more after June 30th.
“Some games will be migrating data to an alternative destination site where you can continue to use your unused payments. Other games are offering a grace period in which you can use any available credits before the game is shutdown,” reads a Google blog post.
Google+ Games launched in August 2011 and offers titles from publishers such as Zynga, Halfbrick, Gameloft and Rovio.
Google has announced a number of other products that it will discontinue this year, including itspopular Google Reader service, which closes on July 1st, as well as its Meebo Bar publishing tool which will remain active until June 30th.
