Dreamcast Media Center

There are some pretty good movie/musc players out there for the dreamcast like udcdivx, vc/dc, dc movie player etc.
I was thinking of combining the core of the best perfomed players together and create a nice media center for the dreamcast.
There is also some good portion of sources available to inlcude like mplayer, ffmpeg, samba (for networking).
You guys could open a new donated project on sourceforge.
That way all of the great developers could participate and the scene could sponsor using paypal for example.
A nice growing project for 2007.

Nice idea, but there already is a project like this:

DCPlaya

It supports plugins and plays about everything the Dreamcast is capable of, from NSF to Google Video. What it does not yet support is (Super)VideoCD.

wow. dcplaya is like... 4 years old?? and no one has touched it.
It seems like a dead project.
Maybe what you need to do Masta G is pick up this project where it has left off.
possibly a hearty donation to the existing team?

DCPlaya v2.0 beta 2 is from late November 2004

Not really like dcplaya but kinda like a clone of the xbox media center.
The xml skinning system with a nice user interface.
Access to windows shares (for the ones with bba/lan adapter).
Using mplayer and parts of the existing cores avaialable atm to playback multiedia.
We have some great developers here.
With the use of hardware acceleration, i'm sure its possible to get near full speed playback of mpeg4 (divx/xvid) and mpeg.
So I was thinking of a nice open project on SF.net so everyone can contribute.
It could maybe take a long time but i'm sure its possible.

well.
I think some of the non funcitonal features like "skinning" aren't nearly as interesting as xml config for samba shares.

I would say, why don't you get it started?
light the fire, PM the developers and set up a fund.

DCPlaya is skinnable. I think we should encourage updates of that.
