Installing Linux Ubuntu on PS3?

I've heard this is possible legaly. The other OS feature.
Ive been searching google like a mad man and I've had no luck (nothing I understand anyway)

can somebody give me a run down?

There is a Linux guide, it is yellow dog, not Ubuntu or whatever, but yellow do is quite nice.

does this open the door to emulators? (SNES etc)

I do beleive there are some emulators available, but they are the same ones used for regular Linux...
