The graphics tablet manufacturer will now offer creative professionals its design tools on Android.
Marmalade – who recently optimised its SDK to support the new Tizen OS -announced that Wacom has used its cross-platform development tools to launch its Wacom Creative Canvas for Android OS.
The graphic drawing application has been embedded into Wacom’s new professional creative tablet, the Clintiq Companion Hybrid.
Marmalade’s SDK has enabled Wacom engineers to code in the general purpose programming language, C++, and roll out to new platforms, such as Android.
Hartmut Woerrlein, head of global product management at Wacom, said: “We’re extremely happy with our decision to choose Marmalade to develop a high-quality drawing app for our new product.
“The biggest challenge was to fulfill the creative professionals’ requirement to support extremely high-resolution and support Wacom’s leading pen-pressure technology.”
The company will now be able to provide pen-pressure support for the EMR (electro magnetic resonance) technology that sets its own tablets aside from other creative devices, on Android OS.
Harvey Elliott, CEO of Marmalade, commented: “Wacom’s specialist products really are the best in their field and Marmalade is delighted to assist their growth in the tablet market where they can reach even more creative professionals with this innovative app and product.”
The Cintiq Companion Hybrid tablet will be available on Wacom eStores from mid October.
