The PC versions of both Batman: Arkham City and Arkham Asylum have been patched to remove the ill-fated Games for Windows Live.
The Steam versions of the games will have been automatically updated and will now operate from Steam’s servers.
Those who bought the games from a rival provider or on disc will need to enter their CD key into Steam to download the corrected versions. This is only needed once and from that point on they will be able to re-download at their leisure.
It’s not all good news, however – the move seems to have wiped single-player saves, which were stored on the GFWL servers, meaning that users will have to start over. This is a real pain for those who have put several hours into what are fairly sizable games.
Games for Windows Live will be terminated forever on July 1st 2014.
