Tesco's £119 own-brand tabet - the Hudl - has sold more than 300,000 units since launching on September 30th.
The supermarket made the announcement as part of its third quarter interim management statement, which revealed Tesco's like-for-like sales dipped 1.5 per cent during the quarter.
"The customer response to the launch of our Hudl tablet has been very strong, with over 300,000 units sold to date," said Tesco in a statement.
"This is more than we had originally planned to sell in total in the run-up to Christmas. Hudl has also received critical acclaim as one of the best-value tablets on the market."
Argos launched its own MyTablet and PC World/Currys has the Advent Vega Tegra Note 7exclusively in a bid to compete with Tesco's Hudl.
Last month, PCR looked at the tablet market in the run-up to Christmas 2013, and Tesco previously released a Hudl infographic.
Argos also told us it is keen to avoid a 'race to the bottom' on price around tablets and tech.
