Google is reportedly planning to launch its own Nexus-branded set-top box in the first half of 2014.
According to The Information, the Nexus TV will stream video from services like Hulu and Netflix, run on Android and also allow users to play video games.
Google has already released one streaming device, the Chromecast – a memory stick-sized HDMI plug-in that can stream content to a TV. It requires a mobile device or computer with a Chrome browser to operate it.
But the Nexus TV will reportedly have a motion sensor and support Google Hangouts for video conferencing, and will not require any external devices to operate.
Once released, the Nexus TV will have to compete with the likes of Apple TV and Roku.
