A step by step tutorial on how to boot Linux on your PlayStation 2 (Fat or Slim) Console

    Youtube Video Version
    youtube.com/watch?v=zbH-3DHAiPQ
If an admin would "fix it" since i cant use the [video] tags i would appreciate

    ===========================
    Requirements:
    ==========

    • PS2 Console (Fat or Slim)
    • USB Stick (2GB Minimum)
    • An exploit/modchip/fmcb to load homebrew .ELF files
    • A software to extract 7z and ISO files (Ive used winrar)
    • * A USB Keyboard (Still works without it)

    STEPS:
    1) Download the appropriate files depending if your PS2 Console has a modchip or not (PAL/NTSC Mode also)
    - ps2linux_live_v3_pal_small_no_modchip[dot]7z (For my case im downloading PAL Version since i live in Europe / No ModChip)
    - vmlinuxvfat

    2)Extract the livecd image (ps2linux_live_v3_pal_small_no_modchip[dot]7z)

3)Extract the ISO that you just extracted from the last step

4)Insert your USB stick to your pc

5)Copy the vmlinuxvfat to your usb stick

6)Go to the location you extracted your ISO and copy the following files to usb
    -kloader[dot]elf
    -disc[dot]bin

7)Copy also the file named "INITRD" which is inside BOOT folder of your extracted ISO

8)Put the usb stick in your playstation 2 usb hub and turn on your console

9)Run the elf file "kloader[dot]elf" from your usbstick

    10) Restore Default Options (File Menu- Restore Defaults)

    11) Select Kernel - USB Memory Stick - vmlinuxvfat
    Go back to main menu

    12) Select Ram Disck - USB memory Stick - initrd
    Go back to main menu

13)Select Configuration Menu - Set to initrd (Here we need the keyboard , if you dont have a usb keyboard keep reading ill explain how to bypass this)
Once you connect your usb keyboard press space and type "cdrom=/dev/sda1" (without the "")

IF YOU DONT HAVE A USB KEYBOARD FOLLOW THIS:
1)If you followed these steps just reset your ps2 and take off your usb stick
2)Download the config[dot]rar file (link in the video description)
3)connect the usb stick to your computer
4)extract the config[dot]rar and copy the config[dot]txt that you will get to your usb
5)connect your usb back to ps2 and launch the kloader[dot]elf again
6)when kloader[dot]elf boots go to File menu - Select Config File - USB Memory Stick - config[dot]txt
    7)Click on load config
    END OF NO-USB KEYBOARD GUIDE

14)Now go to file menu - save config

15)Click on boot current config and the loader will start booting
