Aloha to you all from Hawaii and Happy New Year!

First off I'm using a brand new PSP Slim with PSP-290 GPS, firmware 3.8.

Installed Nieko's latest mapViewer, started mapThis, and it goes through startup and then blank for a few seconds then returns back with "The game could not be started 80020148".

Anyone can shed some light as to what else needs to be done?

    Thanks in advance!

You cannot use Map This! on official Sony firmware after 1.50, you'll need a custom firmware (e.g. from http://www.dark-alex.org/).

There are plenty tutorials out there on how to do this.

I strongly suggest to use a "Pandora battery" with a software modified memory stick using "pan3xx" latest version and "despertar_cementeriov3".
Unfortunately to use these software to make pandora battery and a pandora ms, is necessary to have (also for ten minutes) a psp with custom firmware.
If you know a friend that have one.....
This system is very simple and fast. In this way i had installed on my psp fat and another slim the cf 3.71 m33-3 and mapthis! work fine for hours and hours without freezing.
If you want to know the exactly procedure that i used, i can give you the link bat it is in Italian language.

    Regards.

ps you are very luky to be in Hawaii, and Happy New Year! (But to be in Italy is also ok.)

Nieko, i found a very interesting plugin http://dl.qj.net/General-Apps/pg/12/fid/15624/catid/151
compatible with mapthis! that show battery status, other things and usage of cpu.
Update 4 of the CFW 3.71 M33 is required to run this plugin. it is very useful and pretty. But i sow that your version of mapthis! has an usage of cpu of 95%, and the version mapthis! 0.5.0ZZ has an usage of cpu of 95%.
This is true or not? (i will test the battery life).

Deviance, i have your same hardware and software except for cf 3.71 m33-4 (but i used also 3.71 m33-3) and all is ok.

    Regards.

I have not tested CPU usage in any way, so I'm not sure if it differs a lot from other versions.

Because more things have to be checked (autozoom, changing maps, etc.) it may indeed be a bit more intensive.

Deviance, i can see that all is going perfect. Only you have to go outdoor, in a place where you can see a lot of open sky and waiting for 5 minutes without moving. Then you will see the miracle!

p.s. When you have to do a photo to a screen with proper light you could not use the flash. (like television, monitor, ecc.)

Nieko, it was only a curiosity. I have just ended a test and i can see that there is no appreciable difference in battery life using a program or another in same conditions.
Great difference in battery life is due to the brightness of screen, and the difference from max and min brightness is 30%-40% in battery life.

    Regards.
