Tablet manufacturer Fuhu has told PCR that ‘no plans have been determined yet’ to bring the DreamWorks Animation kids’ tablet to the UK.
The DreamTab is the first ever tablet from DreamWorks and comes with an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen. It will be powered by the latest Intel Atom processor.
When asked how the DreamTab will differ from the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 or LeapPad’s kid-friendly offerings Grace Ryu, Fuhu’s public relations manager, explained:“The DreamTab is not a toy tablet with adapted features or a tablet repurposed for kids.
“It is the first tablet brought to kids by world- renowned companies that are the best in the industry – DreamWorks for best in family entertainment, Intel for fast and powerful processing power, and Fuhu for the best in kids’ tech experiences for enriching learning, playing and growing experiences. “DreamTab brings the expertise of all these partners to redefine what a tablet for kids should be, with one-of-a-kind experiences.”
Ryu boasted that the tablet “has what no other tablet for kids has” – access to professional tools and “world-class” talent.
“In the Creativity Island [app], DreamWorks animators lead a video tutorial to teach kids how to draw characters from DreamWorks’ hit movies and shows,” she explained.
The tablet also comes with a Utilities app that teaches kids how to manage their time and events and a feature that educates them on how to use social networking platforms and behave on them in a safe and secure way.
The DreamTab will be available to US consumers this spring and will cost less than $300 (£183).
