Activision has announced Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, the game leaked by Amazon last week. It's due out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, 3DS and PC.Rise of the Dark Spark is described as the "video game complement" to the upcoming Michael Bay movie Transformers: Age of Extinction, and fuses the movie universe Bay has established, with the Cybertron universe. There are over 40 playable characters from both.Plot wise, it's the follow-up to the movie and Activision's previous Transformers games, War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. According to the official blurb:"Rise of the Dark Spark jumps worlds and factions as it weaves the tale of the hunt for an ancient relic as powerful as the Matrix of Leadership - the Dark Spark. Players will be able to switch between the heroes of the noble Autobots and the nefarious Decepticons throughout the single-player campaign."Expect fast-paced running-and-gunning combat with traversal and vehicle action across open battlefields. On the multiplayer side, Escalation is a wave-based survival mode for up to four players. In it are upgradeable defense systems, enemies you'll recognise from Transformers lore and playable characters old and new. The new leveling system works across single-player and multiplayer to create one persistent character development path.Activision didn't mention which studio was developing the game, but according to a report by The Examiner, the home console version is being made by Edge of Reality, which worked on the Mass Effect Trilogy, the console ports of Dragon Age: Origins and the recent Loadout. The 3DS version is in the works at Way Forward, developer of the recent Ducktales remake, and is described as a strategy RPG. High Moon, Activision's previous go-to studio for Transformers, does not appear to be involved.
