Default If I change my PS1 game's ID, how do I change the save?

Like if my FF8 ID is SLUS00892 and I change it to SLUS00899, when I try to open the game in my PSP, it gives me an error stating that the game cannot be started. I reckon it's got something to do with the save files. I tried renaming the save folder from SLUS00892 to SLUS00899 but it didn't work. Now I want my save file to change as well because I don't wanna create a new game (a new save foldder) to play the game all over again. Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks

My assumption as to why you're getting an error is that the SLUS code is incorrect, but at any rate, I would recommend exporting and importing your memory card via CWCheat. In the CWCheat UI, it's under "Manage memory cards."

Just save your memory card to the stick, rename the file (it's in ms0:/seplugins/cwcheat/mc) to reflect the new ID, and then import it in the game.
