Just weeks after the launch of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, a number of owners have complained of a major flaw with the device’s camera.
Verizon Wireless models in particular have seen the device’s 16MP camera rendered completely useless.
Owners have complained about a ‘camera failure’ error randomly popping up, which in turn causes the camera hardware to become permanently disabled.
At the moment there doesn’t seem to be a fix. Restarting and factory resetting the Galaxy S5 won't solve the issue.
Samsung has confirmed that it is aware of the reports, with the company releasing the following statement to The Verge: "We have learned that a limited number of Galaxy S5 devices may have an issue that causes 'Camera Failure' pop-up error message."
Owners of faulty devices have been asked to contact Samsung to arrange an exchange under the firm’s warranty.
