The Wii U version of Watch Dogs has Ubisoft's undivided attention, now that the other versions are finished, according to Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin.
Watch Dogs' release date is May 27 on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Ubisoft elected to push back the Wii U version so that it could free up more staff to finish the others on time.
Morin told Red Bull Games that work is completed and the Wii U version is back up to speed.
"Right now [the Wii U version is] currently being done, but I'm not directly involved," Morin said. "We wanted to finish all the platforms that we are currently shipping. We needed those guys to get [the shipping versions] finished, and the good news now is that they're all fully focused on the Wii U version, making sure it gets the attention it deserves to make it the best version it can be."
Morin specified that Watch Dogs was delayed to improve its hacking system. Some playtesters of the then-complete version would "go really deep into the manipulation and get really creative about things", creating unforeseen situations and issues.
"We decided to step back a bit and take the time to define how we could perform very surgical and precise ways to fix the problems," Morin said. "That's why we didn't have a new date immediately after the delay."
Ubisoft revealed the Watch Dogs Season Pass on Tuesday. A representative told us the pass will not be available on Wii U, though it will have more details to announce later.
