running game/memorystick from xmb causes shutdown

when i try tto use the game/memory stick menu my psp freezes for 10-20 seconds and shuts down. i can use every other menu options such as video,photo,music... i am on the 2.71fw and i am usinga 4 gig memory/battery combo pack...been searching for an identicalprobem or advice but nothing so far. Please help.thx

I have tried most everything i cant think of including reformating,and i tried to use the recovery option in the blue screen that comes up when powerering on with R trigger pushed. That only starts the system then said game can not be started with an error number. I still have not read aanyother place a problem of this sort being discussed and im in desperate need of suggestions...most thanks &appreciations, TCB
